3.1 Phillip Lim Spring/Summer 2011 Collection is basic-ally perfect

New York, September 15, 2010

It would be a shock if Phillip Lim didn’t turn out another amazing collection for his Spring/Summer 2011 show because he is always influential and successful in his work. Lim does not just show what will sell for the upcoming seasons but he always features a focus on color of the future and detailed cuts. Such talent forces fashionistas globally to melt. This season he plays with apron like layering on bottoms and peter pan and crew collared tops. His palette was neutral with loads of camel. The beautiful accent to his collection was a rich sky blue. His leather baby blue mini apron dress was one of his most effective pieces with an innovative neckline. Silhouettes were cut beautifully and finished with perfection, as always. His sheer organza jacket with black boning along all seams was to live for. A few nude dresses with sheer black organza detailing were soft and hard at the same time. Laser cut black leather and pressed to kill satin silk separates were stellar. His attention to the current overdosing trend of showing some flat belly was a brilliant twist. He created check cutouts with a bowtie detail on a button down gray shirtdress hidden just enough to please under a sweet cardigan. He featured drapery-ish tassel belts with leather totes as accessories. Sex appeal in the form of a successful woman with a hint of girl is the bull’s eye Lim once again hit with this collection while staying true to his talents of clean and well made.
